Latest video:
Building a workshop extension for the DIY 1,5x1,5m CNC plasma table so I can free up floor space in the main room of the workshop so I can continue with other upcoming steel working projects I have planned for the end of the Summer and for the Fall season. Let's hope the CNC plasma will be working soon and I can start cutting parts on it for the future projects. The wooden floor is temporary which I plan on replacing with concrete in the future but for now it has to do. I still have the doors to build, electricity and ventilation to install. The workshop extension is built from OSB (Oriented Strand Board) and homemade lumber which I cut on my homemade bandsaw sawmill. When getting this CNC plasma cutting properly I hope to make lots of interesting steel working projects and improve the craftsmanship.

Here in Brazil we cannot use this type of construction. the climate favors the proliferation of termites and fungi, which rot this type of wood in a few months. if we could use these techniques it would make our lives much easier, and would greatly lower the cost of construction. here we basically use masonry, concrete and metal. Congratulations on the content of your channel. My Brazilian friends and I liked it a lot. Come and see our workshops. Maybe one day we will have a beer together and talk about tools and projects!

Awesome content, per usual, keep it up, I'll keep watching, mate! By the way, the black you applied to the floor, is that just paint or is it a rubber or latex or something else in order to create a moisture barrier or something?? Just curious as I have a similar project coming up and I'm always looking for new products and/or ways to get things done better or faster, etc... Thanks again, Cheers! - Jesse

Is that just a ceiling or a ceiling and an upstairs floor? If only a ceiling you should put the plywood up facedown for a clean ceiling finish and cover the top side of the structural wood with plastic sheeting to shed off any rainwater leakage. Now you are using another layer of plywood which is a waste of material. with the plywood on the bottom, then the structural wood with insulation batts and high mil. plastic sheeting as a cover, it would have been more than enough. you should have put in electric wiring between the plywood and the insulation batts as you go for ceiling lighting. I know I'm giving you a lot of doing this and that's. but that's what planing in advance is all about. And you don't insulate a portion wall, only outside walls that surround the heated space. The only time you insulate a portion wall is when the other side wants to be cold as in like a cold room for food storage. Also, it does no good to insulate three walls and then leave the fourth wall open to the elements. You also didn't plan ahead for electric supply or water, if that CNC requires a water supply and drainage.

You do a marvelous job of speaking english and I clearly understand what ever you explain. I kinda wish I had learned other languages so I could travel and make the most of learning from others. I don't think that the world has seen the last of Donn and have it in my head that is the english version of your full name. If I could of only grew up on your block... I have you hooked on age as i am 73 and the difference mentally is the same as you display thinking of a much older person. Thats a good thing I do believe, intended to mean anyway. I watched your neighbor build his tiny mobile house and its quite the structure... some of his knowledge came from you as instructor I do believe!!

Milling your own lumber is great but most people in this day and age don't have a forest of trees or a sawmill to mill with. so videos like this would be file 13ed by most viewers as out of there ability. I am one of those people, I know I can the lumber but I can't save as you have done so I opt. not to do the thousands of things you people show on youtube. Also, you should never use an unguided jigsaw on long cuts like that as they will be anything but straight and long cuts are hard on the jigsaw blade. I see that need to invest in a handheld circular saw. Jigsaws were not made for the kind of cuts you are making all the time. It takes too long to make the kinds of cuts you are making and is hard on the jigsaw.

Is it safe to use plasma cutter inside wooden box?
Donn DIY
Donn DIY 3 місяці tagasi
There is only one wooden wall really close behind the plasma cutter - most of the cutting will be done on the front portion of the table away from that wall. On the right there's brick - hard to set on fire on a good day and it's over a feet away anyway. Then there's water table under the cutter itself which collects most of the molten metal and dust that occurs while cutting with plasma arc. I don't see any problems with that. But we'll find out.
