Good work well done , now you will gain the skills to get the best board feet from your logs with the smallest amount of work , May I remark it's always easier for later sawing if you work from 2 sawn faces 90deg opposing so you can flip the log back and forth and always have a good edge

Hello Donn, I have just bumped into your channel by chance, while searching for some related video and after having watched all in one go your firewood processor and belt conveyor manufacturing, I am now watching all in one go all your videos on the Band sawmill fabrication: Well done MAN (and I writing it in capital letters as you much deserve it, you are a GENIUS!). I see this post is already aged, but I'd like, if I can allow myself; add few comments on your project (unless have already been expressed from somebody else in some other time): n.1] Have you considered to install a small tank of water on top of band saw's guard with a small flexible pipe which directs the water by gravity on the band? And n.2] have you considered to apply a shaped carter on the right wheel guard to collect and direct the sawdust on the ground instead of being scattered on the air ? Just a thought... other than that, no further comment, your project is GREAT! Chapeau!

looks like realy good wood; beautiful wood without knots. Nice to build E-Guitars? Clever Guy painted the log face, then you can dry the log in the sun and get no wood killing insects and no molds. How often must you test air pressure in the tires? Thank's for the nice and interresting work show! It will be better to use the wheels of a band saw because there can be no twisting. You can see the left wheel rubber imbalance in the film. It can be very dangerous if the saw blade jams. You can help yourself a little with a split plate, one and a half inch behind the saw blade. Taking water for cooling only causes rust.

If the blade is causing a challenge by wanting to run upwards when cutting through the log, wouldn't puting a little bit of downwards pressure on the front of the blade by adjust it with the roller guides counter this tendency thus fixing the problem?

Question you said you were paranoid over blade climbing! In my architectural millwork experience climb is usually blade.tension or dull or miss sharpened blade. So would steel wheels prevent that by allowing you to tighten the blade more then a rubber tire ?
Shakdi Dagalimal
Shakdi Dagalimal 8 місяців tagasi
you could get one of those 10 or 20$ plastic bottle pump sprayers and mount it somewhere - pump for pressure every now and then and trigger to shoot water onto the blade

You said the blade was climbing, do you know why or what caused it. I would like to see the camera on the back side some, to see that part working. All we see on the front is the blade cutting. I know you have a lot of small stuff to do, I read the , before you comment list, you know what you want. Man it's great, I love it. I'm 76, I done a lot of stuff like this before I got sick. I love watching you, go for it.
David Trutwin
David Trutwin 7 місяців tagasi
Blade climbing is from dry spuce wood, very hard to get straight boards from older logs. I just saw fresh cut spruce logs. Dry, oder ones go for firewood.

Good job on the mill. I watched all of your videos. I'm in Canada and operate a WoodMizer. One feature that is a must, is the auto feed which pulls the tower along. You get a more even and smoother cut. Also, we found that leaving the cut wood stacked on top while making another cut, heats up the saw blade and causes binding, I also suspect wear on parts etc. And one last thing about safety. We have both broken blades and simply had them fly off. It is so dangerous to run any band saw without full shielding. Make sure No One is ever in front or beside your machine when its operating. A flying blade will slice through you or a by stander before you can even see it coming. I have watched many of your other videos and was as surprised as you were to see your crane mount snap. You are an amazing millwright. If I am not prying to far, may I inquire what type of job you do as a day job? I sure hope you are in a position where you are able to put all your talent to good use. Overall... Simply Amazing. I look forward to your next addition to your collection of wonderful videos. Thank you so much for sharing. Well done...!!!
