Fabricating upper part of the hull and installing LED lights, both front and rear on the tracked amphibious vehicle. Taking my homemade sheet metal bender to the max when bending 1.5 mm sheet and beefing it up in the process to make it work better. Check it all out in the video. Thank you for watching and stay tuned for future episodes!

Wow, you're definatly the hardest and fastest working guy on youtube! Any upgrades or improvements for the heating system planned, like using a fan through an old oil burning water-heater from a pressure washer?

I’m not saying your welds are bad because they’re not. However I think if you took a few seconds to get comfortable and run the torch along at the angle you want to make sure you’re prepared before you pull the trigger you could lay down some really consistent beauty’s. I’m not picking holes. Just wanted to make a suggestion. If you’re grinding everything back to flush it’s not so important as long as you get the strength in there. But I think you have the skills to make welds pretty enough to not have to grind.

Im not understanding how you are going to brake to turn with a welded differential . Am I missing something ? Great build and your ingenuity is impeccable ! Subbed and watching eagerly ! 👍❤️

I`m not a welder, so I`m asking to learn something. Why do you jump around with welding insted of going whole side? Why doing small wleds with spaces? Thanks.

Just a thought on your sheet metal bender could you use visgrip pliers in the place of the bolt so u don't have to use a wrench all the time

A square tubing truss over your sheet metal break will be what you're looking for. You know the type. Edit: and installed under too can actually become an improved handle. Peace.

@Donn DIY Who hasn't tried to do way more than the tools were capable of? Appreciate reading your replies, adds value to your channel. I'll also mention from your track buggy build when you didn't like how a part looked you changed it. I've had many apprentice who either don't look at their work after it's built or won't pay attention to their subconscious telling them their first idea isn't good enough. I try to teach them how to work on one project while thinking about the next. It surprising how much better the work became of the ones who were able to develop this skill. Not that this is related to your improving the look on one occasion i just thought to mention it because so much of our work becomes nearly mindless repetitive muscle memory once we get the design sorted. From southern BC, Canada, take care.

Yup, I will fabricate a new sheet metal bender for future use using these ugrades. This one in the video was a temporary bender and was never intended for thicker sheet metal in the first place.

Wondering if you had thought of welding a box spanner/ tube and ‘T’ bar onto the adjusting nut of your press break to make it easier to loosen it , rather than use an open end spanner?

Looking fantastic, the LED lights will be great! With the bender I noticed that from our view the whole unit moves on the hard bends, I think this is a part of the problem. I am not sure you can see it from where you are. That flex as you lift is not helping you.

@Donn DIY If you have both it is not bad either. Plenty of shops have one for light stock and one for heavy. My father in law had a massive almost 2 meter wide unit that never moved, it weighed tons. Then he had a portable one. It was the mass of the big one that made the clean crisp bends. What a beast it was! Really love watching you work, please keep them coming.

You should try using flap discs on your grinder. They remove metal much faster than a grinding wheel and leave a better finish.

Don’t forget to weld the inside so water doesn’t get through
tahwnikcufos 11 місяців tagasi
You had the right idea with having truss support in your original design, the force was just being applied to a very localized and flat, part of the angle iron. You need to place your upper jaw, open side down, with the truss bisecting the 90 degree edge. Machining a hard edge on the lip wouldn't hurt either. DIY metal brakes can make some pretty tight bends, if you utilize the shape of your parts for maximum yield strength.

Looks like it's coming together. I would recommend two tests. 1) Leak test by filling it with water and spotting the leaks, and 2) a float test. Would be good to get those two out of the way before you get too far down the road and it becomes a huge pain to fix or modify after everything else is installed.

Hey Donn is this a new design in stainless? what ever happened to the older one?? It looks just great! can´t wait to see it working. At 1.5 mm thick sheet it must be quite light and much faster in the water. Your grampa has lived that long BECAUSE he still does things like hauling wood. Nice job! thanks for uploading this for us.
