Fabricating a hydraulic brake steering assembly out of two LADA hydraulic clutch master cylinders and brake fluid reservoirs, while using some steel, a welder and angle grinders. This handmade assembly in conjunction with the differential in the rear axle and separately routed brake calipers will provide the steering for this tracked amphibious vehicle when pulling levers separately: left lever for the left caliper and vice versa. When pulling both levers the vehicle will stop. The throttle will be operated via old snowmobile thumb throttle on the right lever which will regulate engine RPM and the engagement of the CVT - Continuously Variable Transmission, that is currently installed on the engine. This gives me clutch. Since the machine is geared down via CVT, the differential in the gearbox and the differential in the rear axle there will be no gear changing whilst driving. Max speed will be around 35 km/h and most probably it'll take off from stand still in fifth gear without any problems. Thanks for watching! More videos will come. Subscribe for more! Cheers!

everything looks good , but got to say no to the brake fluid reservoirs . Make your own tank and use hard lines . A piece of square tube with a bottom and a top .use pipe nipple and cap for the lid drill and tap for hard lines

it's coming along. i think a steam traction engine version of this would be cool . it's a longer way around but petrol- less but given the equivalent engine it would have a shit to more torque and for those that would argue that boilers are dangerous, modern boilers have mitigation measures in place no real danger of tragic mishaps.

beautiful work as always.. I love that you show mistakes, blind alleys etc. My thoughts are that you've missed a trick with the brake levers... pushing them forwards could be the throttle... either the further forward one is engine throttle (easy!) or the average "forwardness" is throttle (a bit harder)... I think it would make driving the beast a bit more intuitive....

The leverage is 5 : 70, the distance between the master cylinder and the pivot point is 5 cm, the distance from the pivot point to the end of the handles is 70 cm. 😉

Love the build been following it along as you go. You have some real metal working talent. How it the steering going to work? I’m having a hard time comprehending it. It has a open rear differential so when you apply the brake to one side it will turn that way? Only thing I don’t get it when you get is how it will go straight because seems like it’s always is going to want to spin just one side.

I would add a damper, that the controls return slowly and gentle to their resting position and maybe put them on the sides of the seat instead in front of you, for ergonomics. Also I would make no gas pedal but instead a pedal which removes the gas, like on a CAT, so if you stamp on it, it goes to idle. Maybe a second pedal which locks the current position in place, if you don't want to run full throttle for a long period.

Mr.McGoover Aasta tagasi
@Donn DIY Oh ..well that's a true grift you have there Donny! keep up the good work! I wish I had a good size shop to work in during the winter when it snows like you do... during the winter all my weld projects come to a grinding halt. P.s. thanks for responding to my question, it shows you care about the viewers that watch your videos.
