Quickly showing how I fabricated my homemade workshop press using MIG welding and angle grinder for fabrication and later removing rust with wire wheel before painting the entire thing. This hydraulic press design uses bottle jack as a source for pressing power. The hydraulic press gets the love it deserves after all these years of hard work it has done for me. It is really bling now especially when located in the new machine shop. Can't wait to use it again.

Awesome build... excellent prep and paint. Suggestion...a knob for the bleed down ... using the jack handle oval end to release pressure gets awkward. Drill a hole in a golf ball so a piece of pipe/tubing fits tight. Take the tubing and oval one end to fit snugly over the bleed stub... cut tube/pipe to length.. 1.5" ... tap the pipe/tube onto the bleed stub with a hammer. Lastly, take drilled golf ball and use a rubber mallet to tap onto tube/pipe hammered onto bleed stub. Golf ball should have a good friction fit if hole was drilled for a snug fit. Hope this helps.

Hi HMT you should make a sand blaster. They are 5 times faster than wire brushes. Easier to use.

Search for a channel named "Eddie the grouch". He has some useful ideas on how to make a bottle jack better for press use. He's quite fun to watch also but not very active lately.

Hi donn nice press I added two pieces of all thread too raise and lower the press bed I also used a old jack screw adjuster as a press push pin so you can adjust push point easier . Love your channel Marty

I'm guessing that GoPro must have rebelled, & was getting its due? lol Anyways, I'm speaking from the butt here, but if your going to deal with rusty stuff as much as you have, why not build yourself a sand blasting booth or something? so you can knock down rust quicker?
Donn DIY
Donn DIY Aasta tagasi
I have a bigger compressor (more volume of air per minute) stashed away that needs an electric motor fitment so I can use sand blaster which I have to build. But that's another project. :D

So and so. My father did the electrical work in the shop. All the fuse boxes, wiring, switches etc. He didn't want to be in the video so... Not so much video material from this operation.

Nice job on the press, and thought of a great project for you since you do a lot of metal work . I think you should build a homemade sand/ media blaster it would cut all that wire wheeling and time in half or more. Thanks !

Not for the little compressor. I do have a big compressor which I still have to retrofit with an electrical motor instead of petrol engine. After that any blaster would probably work.

Did you spray the insides with cavity sealant? Rust from the inside can be as bad as from the outside. And the European style electrics in the background. Not the American conduit rubbish. ;-)

Väga äge. Hea vaadata, kuidas töökoda ilmet võtab ning kuidas puhtad kapid, tööriistad jm endale koha leiavad. Esteetika pole tööriistade puhul esmatähtis aga minumeelest on endal puhtam ja kuivem tunne töötades küll sedasi :D

Mulle ka meeldib. Olen alati puhast töökoda tahtnud, kus asjad kindla koha peal. Nüüd on see võimalus selline töökoda tekitada ning kasutan seda aega ära. Varsti saangi lasta põranda ära valada. Kõik muu sellele lisaks peaks olema lihtsalt aja küsimus. Tänud vaatamast!

Donn, excellent equiptment and a nice color, we love it in Holland. Little advice, consider making a small chain on top and fitted to the wall to avoid falling over when used with uneven heavy parts in the press.
