Building a solid wood table or stand from lumber and plywood for a drill press at the moment and it also has to be sturdy enough to support a small milling machine if I can get my hands on one sometime in the future. Using spruce lumber and larch boars that I cut myself on my homemade band sawmill (spruce) and chain sawmill in the past (larch) and scrap plywood cutoff pieces my father bought from a local plywood manufacturer for cheap. That is why the plywood pieces are so small. A while back I had my eye on a prototype making CNC milling machine (Optimill MB something) that would've fit this space I created with this table but I was hesitant and didn't/don't have money for it. So a milling machine has to wait and angle grinder has to prevail yet again. :) Thank you for watching, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section and subscribe if you want to see similar steel and woodworking projects in the future and if you haven't done so already. Cheers and see you soon!

That is one super solid workbench. Should easily hold the weight of your drill press and future addition of a milling machine. The duct tape idea to prevent moisture from wicking up from the concrete is “pret-ty good”. Have you figured out how you’re going to move the lathe to replace the floor under it yet?

Heavy lifting and twisting your body to change direction is asking for back trouble. Just ask me, I know! To change direction while heavy lifting, shuffle your feet around, keeping your body straight.

Most of my barn floor is like that - old and cracked and uneven. This area just got poured in and I highly recommend a good flat concrete floor - makes life so much easier. 😉

When building I kept in mind I want to use this bench for the future small milling machine and those are heavier than this drill press. So it is definitely overbuilt for the drill press and hopefully overbuilt for the milling machine too. ;)

Don't lift these heavy things alone. Have someone help you. Really! Slipped disc in the back also last a lifetime. And if it the weight falls you might break a foot as well.
