Another episode in the series. This time the band wheels are getting in their place with fully adjustable mounts so the blade will run on the properly aligned wheels when everything is set. Hopefully the motorcycle wheels will do justice for the mill. Check it out! Thanks for watching!

why doesn't the bandsaw blade come off the tires? seems like even a fraction of a cm wobble or misalignment would cause the band to derail ? in fact the tires have a radius and the band is flat so why does it stay on under a cutting load putting transverse pressure on the band?

Very nice engineering and really well thought through systems of leveraging and weighing of the tension and torque on the blade. Are you an engineer by education or simply self taught or some vocational training/education?

I see a very hard working and most definitely man to recon with when you grow to full grown adult, Your a young adult now but time will season or hone your skills. I could of used a couple of you to raise as my own... I'm 72 now so I have seen a lot of water go under the bridge

You know your stuff. :) I built and fixed those Hammond polishing lathes with sanding belts, back stands, and all the trimmings, even with the pneumatic tensioners and manual tensioners. You got the right thinking with the blade tracking nailed, even with the shape of the motorcycle wheels. Pretty good.

We could see the twist in the crooked frame when you cut it on the saw before you started welding ;p Was wondering how long itd take you to realize
Donn DIY
Donn DIY 2 aastat tagasi
It was the 6 m long piece that was bent under the load of itself since it wasn't properly supported. The crookedness came from welding the frame on the cross beam of the saw head not on the leveled trailer bed. It didn't take me long to realize that it's crooked. So not much time was lost. :D

Right now I'm at the stage of the build where I tinker on the small things and not much is showing and that gets a little bit frustrating compared to the start of the project where I added big pieces of the trailer at a time and the progress was showing faster.

Is the drive wheel (with sprocket) smaller in diameter than the old front tire so you added the 1” (25mm”) spacers to lower the axle? As it seems right now the blade won’t be level across the trailer frame.
Donn DIY
Donn DIY 2 aastat tagasi
Nope, they're the same. I added this for a reason but I will explain this further in a future video. The levelness of the blade is achieved by the guide rollers anyway, so that's not an issue. ;)

The tiny house will have some big updates in the near future including the full build of the porch, the steam room and the washing room. Accordingly, these are the things that still need to be done to call the sauna/tiny house project finished. Oh yeah, also a new bridge and wooden stairs to the bridge on the pond. Sh*t, also the outhouse. :D Lots of things to do if I think about it!

Great job on the sawmill build!! I do like the show of brotherly love you show towards your brother and vis-versa! Lmao!! Is he older or younger? Back to the bandsaw/ sawmill! How are you going to keep the teeth of the blade from wearing/ cutting a grove in the tires? Yet keep it on the crown or the tires? I’m eager to see the results. Email me at nickdun28y@outlook.com
Donn DIY
Donn DIY 2 aastat tagasi
Cheers. He's younger. I guess the teeth don't wear the tires down but I have no experience with that. So I'll see that in the future.
Dennis Cronk
Dennis Cronk 2 aastat tagasi
Great job, Donn. I've been really looking forward to watching your progress on this because I have many of the same materials. I, too, was going to use motorcycle tires. It's good to see that you had the same idea as I did for tracking adjustment. I'm using adjustable conveyor belt tensioner pillow blocks that somebody was selling locally online in the classifieds for a fraction of their worth. Essentially, they're doing the exact same thing you're doing in much the same way. It's funny to see that you have the same relationship with your brother that I do with mine. When I was a boy, I told him he had a disease that required him to eat dirt three times a day in order to survive... It's a good thing I told him about it because otherwise he may never have learned what pinworms were. Our relationship has pretty much stayed at that level ever since. Looking forward to your next video! I'll prepare my wife for my crabbiness by telling her it may not show up until next weekend. 😁
Donn DIY
Donn DIY 2 aastat tagasi
Hey, thanks. As you've already read about the motorcycle tires/wheels in the comments I suggest you wait out my trial & error on this setup. If it blows up on me I will show it in the video too. Then you can save yourself from the work involved with building this setup. :D But it will take a little more time before the first cuts are made. Yeah, brothers are great fun to communicate with. Wouldn't change it for anything. I'm pretty sure the next video will be uploaded on the next weekend so you can set your cycle accordingly. :D Thanks for watching and commenting. I mean it!

Nope, you're right. One wheel being lower is intentional. I will explain that in the video where I get to the blade guides/supports in the cutting zone.
